How we started...

How we create the idea of Map of Astana

•The idea of the project is the outcome of the weekly lessons devoted to the understanding of the  Global citizenship education.

•Each lesson highlights the vital points for achieving for Sustainable Development Goals.

•We used project-based learning to contribute to the better understanding of the GCED concept and opportunities we can address  to improve  human needs.

•One of our GCED training lesson was devoted to Interconnectedness and Interdependency.

Name the system you are presenting

  • What is your role in this system

  • Write your feelings

  •

  • Write positive influence  of this system on you

  •

  • Write negative influence of this system on you

  •

  • What actions can you take to improve they system?

  •

  • What actions can we utilize to improve the system?

•During this lesson our international students noticed that Astana is modern and beautiful city, however tourists and newcomers do not have a Touristic Map to explore the city.

•We called to publication agencies to clarify the information about the existence of the tourist map of Astana.  All 4 big agencies gave negative replies.  So we started to create a map.

At the begging when we started yhe project our aim was:

  • to attract tourists to visit Astana,

  • to establish comfortable travel of visitors in tourist destinations,

  • demonstrating active citizenship in promoting peaceful community

  • When we presented the project to the local community, we understood the importance of our project and submitted the letter to the Government where we offered our map as a volunteered project for EXPO-ASTANA, 2017.

  • After 2 days we got the positive reply from Government company EXPO-ASTANA and we started our collaboration with EXPO.

  • We also submitted our project for the Kazakhstan UNESCO Social projects competition and WON the 1st place in the republic.

  • On May 2017 we submitted our project for UNESCO Asia-Pacific "Education for International Understanding" and won the "Best case practice award". UNESCO APCEIU published a monograph devoted to our social experience. This monograph you may see on our Resources page
